The key to enhanced brain function is to activate the midrbrain. This midbrain is like a control tower for consciousness and is equipped with highly advanced intelligence. The SYNC workshop uses a combination of brain gym exercises, play and music therapy to activate the midbrain by teaching children to shift between brainwave states. Normally people function in Beta state in their day to day lives which is mostly our left-brain logical thinking state. In the workshop we learn to go from Beta to Alpha-theta state which is the optimal state for greater learning, problem solving, tapping into intuition, increased creativity and a more stress-free mindset.
One of the effects of shifting brainwave states is that it allows a child to be able to see with a blindfold on, so as part of the workshop we use a blindfold technique to determine whether the midbrain has been activated or not. This means that the child will gain sensory vision through touch, smell or hearing. Being able to see with a blindfold on is actually a byproduct of activating the midbrain. Children are able to see colors and shapes followed by numbers. Older children will be able to read as well as a number of other amazing activities such as coloring, math, and playing video games all with a blindfold on. Once this occurs and the child is able to “see” using the other senses, the stimuli coming into the brain will come through all senses equally and will be assimilated by both sides. At this stage, both sides of the brain become synchronized allowing them to function simultaneously and at optimal levels.
