Two Brain Hemispheres for What?

Updated: Feb 7, 2020

People often talk about the left and right brains but I don't think we even fully understand what the right brain is capable of. We know that the brain has two hemispheres. The left hemisphere which is dominant for most people is the conscious logical side of the brain. It works with calculations, reason, details, etc. The right side on the other hand, although is known as the creative brain, is much much more than that. Why? Because takes in all information around us at massive speed and holds it in the subconscious. It is the right brain that can help us go from human to superhuman because the right brain is connected to EVERYTHING! If you think of it this way; our left brain is out connection to the outer world outside of us which we take in and decipher and the right brain is our connection to the inner world within us which is trusting and full of knowledge. Having access to both sides creates balance in human beings. And by having that balance, we learn to trust our inner world of knowing to easily manage and create our outer world as we desire.

More and more, people are trying to find a balance by beginning various practices like yoga, meditation and mindfulness but these are all practices that help us open up to the right side of the brain. The more open the right side is, the more balance we create and the more we gain access to our authentic self.

This is why whole brain education is so important for children and why we should teach them from the time they are born. Children from 0-6 are born with the right brain wide open because the brain actually develops from right to left, so if we take the time to teach the right side of the brain from birth, we can help keep it open and aware so from the time children are young, they have the balance of the whole brain that we as adults so strive to achieve.
