Curiosity Develops Great Thinkers

Children are naturally curious from the time they are born. They want to learn about, and explore the world around them and discover what things are about. The more that children are encouraged to discover, the more their curiosity grows and with it their love for learning. The idea of being curious, and letting your child discover things on their own, whether it be in the garden, or making up new games, or playing in nature, teaches them to become great thinkers because what they are doing is developing practical knowledge about any one topic. And I believe that this type of self-discovery is so powerful in not only teaching them about the way things work, but also about themselves and their capabilities.

There are many school systems now that are beginning to adapt their curriculum's to more practical learning models rather than making children sit in classrooms all day. These models are not only more fun, getting children excited about learning, but they also deploy their natural tendencies to want to learn and explore the world around, which will stay with them into adulthood.

For young children, being able to discover and explore the world around them brings a sense of joy. The more they do it, the more joy they experience and this natural love can continue further into their lives. This type of practical knowledge can lead to all sorts of innovation where they can develop a sense of mastery, and the better they get at what they do, the more they are willing to try new things.

I believe that if you really want to engage your children to develop a love for learning then the best way to do it is by making it fun for them. Take the time to get creative with your kids to help them figure out how to solve their school problems in an imaginative creative way so they can get excited about learning.

Play with them for a minimum of 15 minutes a day and watch them transform. Children don’t need a whole lot of time to from you but they do need quality time, and if you can incorporate learning and play in one, then you have done an incredible thing for your child.
